What is the IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma Programme?

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a globally recognized and respected educational programme. Established in 1968, the IB aims to develop students who are academically capable, socially responsible, emotionally balanced, and globally minded. IB programmes encourage students to think critically, conduct research, communicate effectively, and engage with global issues with awareness and empathy.

The IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a rigorous two-year pre-university curriculum designed for students aged 16 to 19. It offers academic depth while fostering lifelong learning and meaningful engagement with the world.

Within the IBDP, students take courses from six subject groups and complete the following three core components:

• Theory of Knowledge (TOK): A course that explores the nature of knowledge across different disciplines,
• Extended Essay (EE): A 4,000-word independent research paper on an academic topic of the student’s choice,
• CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service): A component that encourages students to participate in creative, physical, and community service experiences.

Through this comprehensive programme, students not only achieve academic excellence but also gain essential life skills such as self-awareness, responsibility, teamwork, and community involvement.
